BioNova Brand Story
I grew up in a coastal city in Asia, where the ocean was more than just scenery—it was the heartbeat of our community. My childhood was filled with the sight of cargo ships, cranes, and the hum of maritime trade. The port symbolized connection, progress, and livelihood. But amid this motion, I noticed something troubling: plastic debris drifting into harbors, clinging to rocks, washing ashore after storms. It became clear that with each wave of economic growth came a tide of environmental damage.
These early experiences shaped how I see the world. They revealed how tightly human development is tied to ocean health—and how fragile that balance can be. Years later, when I moved to California and saw the same plastic pollution on its beaches, I realized this problem wasn’t local. It was global.
That’s what led me to study microplastic pollution—a small but significant threat. Though invisible to the naked eye, microplastics are embedded in many Sustainable Development challenges. Found in our water, food, and ecosystems, they pose a growing risk to our shared future.
This summer, I analyzed public data from environmental reports and water assessments on microplastics in Southern California. Notably, California became the first government in the world to test drinking water for microplastics, setting a global precedent. According to the California Ocean Protection Council, about 11 million metric tons of plastic enter oceans annually. Globally, 19–23 million metric tons leak into aquatic ecosystems each year—polluting rivers, lakes, and seas. These plastics break down into micro- and nano-plastics that infiltrate food webs, harm marine life, and potentially affect human health.
The Plastic is In Our Blood! We need urgent Action!
Let’s start from “Daily Use Reform”: Replace single-use plastics with reusables and compostable materials.
The above is our original root of launching our brand of BioNova. Born from the idea that everyday products shouldn’t cost the Earth, BioNova was created to bring biodegradable, planet-friendly solutions into your daily life — without sacrificing style, quality, or function.
Our name combines Bio, meaning life and nature, with Nova — a star that shines brilliantly, symbolizing new beginnings. Just like a nova lights up the dark, we aim to illuminate a better path forward: one where what we use today doesn’t become tomorrow’s burden.
From bamboo utensils to compostable packaging and natural fiber wellness gear, every BioNova product is designed to leave a lighter footprint — and a brighter legacy.
This isn’t just sustainability.
It’s a lifestyle shift.
It’s a promise to future generations.
It’s living in harmony with the planet, one choice at a time.
